About Southern Sheet Metal Ltd

About Us

Southern Sheet Metal LTD was established in 1986 by Mick Sollis. Many years of hard work and dedication Southern Sheet Metal was able to expand its equipment, skill and customers.

The team has grown and stayed steady over the years with staff members being part of the SSM family for 20+ years.

Working alongside his dad, Adam Sollis learned his craft from a very young age and Stevie Knee joined the team as a 17-year-old apprentice and happened to never leave.

When Mick decided it was time for him to retire, Adam and Stevie realised it was the right time for them to take the reins in 2015. After two small premises moves, SSM is now settled and located in a much larger workshop just outside the heart of Southampton.

SSM has gone from strength to strength and each year investing in some new equipment to move along with the times and stay relevant.

Adam is the company’s director and CAD/CAM designer, you will usually find him busy on the shop floor operating one of our many CNC machines or 3D modelling. Adam is also a qualified marine engineer which compliments our product design within the marine industry.

Adam spends a lot of his personal time in the garage building, tinkering and messing with anything cars and bikes, and loves a beer and a curry at the weekend.

Stevie – You’ll often be greeted by Stevie on the phone and emails, she manages the day to day running of the business. She is also one of our CAD designer’s and is a programmer and setter for the profiling machines along with keeping her hand in on the bench fabricating and welding.

Stevie enjoys interior design, reading books and reformer Pilates in her personal time and loves an afternoon tea.
